After the trial lesson
It worked! You have a booking for a trial lesson. What can you do to turn this into a registration?
On average, 60% of trial lessons lead to a registration. This can be a subscription or a prepaid credit. Most registrations are made in the week following the trial lesson, but it also happens that people register after a few months. There is always a percentage of people who do not really intend to take lessons,
Ask for feedback
People like to keep their options open. Even if they are enthusiastic about the trial lesson, they tend to postpone their decision. Therefore, it helps to ask during the trial lesson what they think and if they want to continue. Maybe not everyone is completely honest when you ask this personally, but you still create clarity.
Make a follow-up appointment
It is advisable to make a preliminary follow-up appointment during the trial lesson. Even if a student or parent is not sure if they want to continue with the lessons or if they want to start further in the future. This ensures that people start thinking about what a follow-up looks like. Additionally, when registering for a subscription, a start date is also requested, so it is helpful if the student already knows this.
Make sure you know how registration works
It works best if you can immediately answer questions about the registration. So make sure you know how the registration works and what options are available. For example, a subscription for regular lessons and prepaid for an irregular schedule. Also, go through the registration form yourself at schoolofmusic.nl/inschrijven, so you know what a student needs to do (fill in a different email address than your teacher account).
Trial period
With a subscription, there is a trial period of 4 weeks during which the student can cancel without notice. If you mention this, it can encourage people to try it for a month. After the first 4 weeks, the normal terms and conditions apply again.
