Profile checklist
Do you want to get more bookings? There are often things you can do yourself. On this page, we discuss a number of checks you can go through to improve your profile.
Profile Text
Your profile is your business card, so view it through the eyes of someone who doesn’t know you. Most people are looking for a teacher with experience, a personal connection, and good teaching facilities.
Start with some personal information about your own background and ensure that your text is easy to read for beginners. Most people are not interested in lists of qualifications or names. It’s better to highlight something that you find important or are enthusiastic about and tell more about that.
For each course you offer, write a separate paragraph. Describe your experience with the relevant discipline here and explain what you can offer in this course. Be clear about your own educational background and in what context you have gained experience in the relevant discipline.
Are your lessons suitable for children? Then add an extra paragraph in which you tell the parents about your experience teaching children.
Practically: many applicants want to know if they need their own instrument for the trial lesson, so mention this in your text. Encourage people who are unsure about their level with an invitation. Many people think they need to be able to do something before they can come for lessons.
Photos and Videos
First, ensure you have a good close-up profile photo. Use a recognizable and friendly photo. For the other images, make sure they say something about you as a teacher and not just about your stage experience. If you don’t have good photos of yourself, it’s definitely worth having some taken.
Under each paragraph, you can add a photo or video. Make sure all offered disciplines are represented in the photos.
Take good photos of the teaching space, preferably in daylight. Even if you teach in your living room, it’s important to set it up as if you could start a lesson right away. Ensure you have enough seating and, if possible, use a photo of you teaching.
Course Offer
Make sure all your courses are listed in your offer and availability. If this is not the case, you will receive a notification in your dashboard.
Beginner Courses
To get more bookings, you can expand your offer. For example, you can also offer a course for beginners. If you clearly explain your background with the relevant discipline, you are less likely to have people come to your lesson with incorrect expectations. Most people looking for an advanced teacher will first read your profile to see if it matches their needs.
Video Lessons and Home Lessons
You can add video lessons and home lessons to your course offer to get more bookings. You can find out how to do this here. For video lessons, it is advisable to record a short video in which you give a brief impression of what someone can expect from the online lessons.
Availability
Choose available times in both the afternoon and evening. Most bookings are during the week between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM and on weekends between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Only set the times available when you can be booked throughout the year, as this prevents you from having to cancel trial lessons. Don’t make too many times available; it’s better to have 3 blocks of a few hours than to leave every day completely open.
Reviews
Reviews help you get bookings because they show that you have experience. If you get a student through us, we will send a review request after registration. The student can also leave a review for you through their own account. The reviews will be displayed on your profile with only a first name.
If you are just starting, you may not have any reviews on your profile yet. In that case, ask former students for a review and send us a maximum of 2 reviews including first names.
Profile in English? Add Dutch
Is your profile written in English? Even if you speak a little Dutch, it’s recommended to add a few lines in your introduction explaining your level of Dutch. This way, visitors to your profile can decide for themselves if this will work for them. Some people are not so sure of their English speaking skills, so it is nice to know that they can also communicate in Dutch.
Getting bookings, but no registrations?
Are you receiving bookings but relatively few registrations? Then read further in after the trial lesson.
